Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was a child prodigy. It was an innate characteristic for a girl who was of Irish origin, and who was nurtured in her early years by talented family members as well as parents. Maureen moved into this loving house on August 17th, 20th in Ranelagh. Marguerita FitzSimons' mom, Lilburn, was a contralto. Charles FitzSimons ran a Dublin firm, as well as had shares in the Irish Shamrock Rovers, a soccer team. Maureen was the third of six FitzSimons children. Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen was a great athlete and played rough, athletic games when she was young. She combined this interest with an equally natural gift for performing. It was evident by her receiving nearly every Feis award for drama or theatrical performing her country offered. When she turned 14, she was accepted by the Abbey Theater accepted her and permitted her to pursue her passion for classical theatre and singing opera.
