Lucy Lawless has a long and prominent career as an actress and performer in New Zealand. The most notable of her work are her notable performances in various famous television and film shows like Xena Warrior Princess and Spartacus Blood and Sand. As an actress she is most remembered and praised by the incredible role she played in Xena. Lucy was given the role initially planned for Vanessa Angel, but she was unable to attend because of illness. The character became one of the top TV shows during the period it was aired. Her portrayal as Xena was successful enough that it was able to be a spin-off which was launched in September 1995. Following the spin-off, the show received another blow in its ratings as well as a cultural impact that made the series to run for six seasons, boosting Lucy's growing popularity as an actress. Lucy is not just well-known to the public as Xena but she is also known for her part as Diane Lewis Swanson on NBCs hit show Parks and Recreation which she appeared in from 2012 to 2015
